DSC-MR Perfusion: Leave Tracer Recirculation Alone
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) MR perfusion is based on the indicator dilution theorem for non-diffusible tracers.[1,2] A common misconception is that tracer recirculation cannot occur in order to make use of the underlying theory (i.e., analysis of the tracer kinetics must be “firstpass”).[3-13] As a result, there have been a number of approaches suggested for removing tracer recirculation from DSC-MR data.[3-8] Here we show that it is unnecessary to remove tracer recirculation from DSC-MR data in order to derive perfusion parameters.

An improved model for describing the contrast bolus in perfusion MRI.
PURPOSE Quantification of perfusion measurements using dynamic, susceptibility-weighted contrast-enhanced (DSC) MRI depends on estimating the size and shape of the tracer bolus. Typically, the bolus is described as a gamma variate function (GV) fitted to the bolus portion of tracer concentration time curve (CTC). However, the last point to fit is arbitrary which can lead to considerable variati...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) perfusion MR imaging for distinguishing tumor recurrence from post-treatment effect as alternatives to dynamic-susceptibility contrast-enhanced (DSC) perfusion MR imaging when the DSC image is uninterpretable. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective study was...
متن کاملMeasuring Cbv by the Recirculation Part of Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast Mri on Rat Model
Introduction By using the Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) method for MR perfusion imaging, relative cerebral blood volume maps are obtained from integrating the first pass area of the local tissue concentration time curve CT(t). However, because of relatively high heart rate and fast circulation in small animal experiments, CT peak changes quickly and results in only few data points for q...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The usefulness of arterial spin-labeling for the evaluation of the effect of the antiangiogenic therapy has not been elucidated. Our aim was to evaluate the antiangiogenic effect of bevacizumab in a rat glioblastoma model based on arterial spin-labeling perfusion MR imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS DSC and arterial spin-labeling perfusion MR imaging were performed by usin...
متن کاملASFNR recommendations for clinical performance of MR dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion imaging of the brain.
MR perfusion imaging is becoming an increasingly common means of evaluating a variety of cerebral pathologies, including tumors and ischemia. In particular, there has been great interest in the use of MR perfusion imaging for both assessing brain tumor grade and for monitoring for tumor recurrence in previously treated patients. Of the various techniques devised for evaluating cerebral perfusio...
